A group of passionate Jewish musicians dedicated to leading soulful prayer throughout Los Angeles.
Lev Tahor is a group of passionate Jewish musicians dedicated to leading soulful prayer throughout Los Angeles. Their Kabbalat Shabbat uses energetic instrumentation, participatory singing, and the sacred words of sages past and present to craft a Shabbat experience of connection and celebration.
The service merges traditional and contemporary music and prayer, resulting in an authentic and accessible experience for people of all backgrounds. By pairing chasidic tunes of Carlebach to songs by LA's own Craig Taubman, in addition to a host of prayer compositions original and learned, Lev Tahor turns each step of Kabbalat Shabbat into a climb towards our highest selves and a musical taste of God's presence throughout the Jewish world.
Lev Tahor is lead by Ariel Root Wolpe, a Jewish songwriter and rabbinical student at American Jewish University, and supported by musicians Brock Pollock, Noah Yaffe and Jon Mitchell.
These three tracks are available for download in the album Candle Light: a collection of niggunim.
